Teasing My Next Book: Made in the USA!
Singing the praises of the unsung heroes of American manufacturing!
My second book is tentatively titled Inspiring Innovation: Twenty-One US Manufacturers that Helped Build America. I’m nearing completion of the draft writing, and I’m aiming to have it published in late summer this year.
It builds on many of the stories I’ve told in my Forbes coverage over the past seven years, but adds a lot more to the mix. It tells the uplifting tales about companies you’ve heard of but don’t know nearly enough about, and companies you probably have never heard of but should have—especially if you value Made in America.
Some companies you’ve probably heard of? My very favorite story of all times, the Zamboni Company, will be in there. So will Ariens and KA-BAR.
Manufacturers you probably don’t know about but should? Those would include Bevin Bells, Worksman Cycles, and SMI Snowmakers.
Back when I first got the opportunity to write about manufacturing for Forbes, my first editor asked me what I wanted to write about. My first answer was, “I want to tell about what we make in America, because there are too many people who think we don’t make anything at all anymore. They couldn’t be more wrong.”
We’re in a unique moment in American history right now, where we have the very real opportunity to undo a lot of dumb things we’ve done in the past few decades that have sent far too much of our productive capacity overseas.
The companies I’m writing about have shown just what it takes to make stuff right here in the good ol’ USA, and I’m going to share their stories so we can all learn from them.
Stay tuned for more updates!
Can't wait!
